Who should attend the conference?

Explosives safety personnel from military, government and contractor agencies and academia who have been charged with the mission of addressing the hazards of UXO, defeating the operational threat posed by mine warfare, and addressing the potential explosive hazards posed worldwide to the public by both UXO and legacy mine fields. 

Organizations with the latest products and technologies are encouraged to present their material and showcase their contributions in the highly integrated exhibit hall.

Does the One-Day Admission cover the conference notebook?

The One-Day Admission does not include the conference notebook.  The notebook, if available, with abstracts, conference attendee list, and exhibitor contact information and access to conference proceedings can be purchased for $100.  Copies are limited.

Where is the Classified Session on IED Defeat?

The Classified Session on Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Defeat was held at the Shades of Green® Resort on Monday, August 24, 2009, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Both government and commercial briefings were presented with topics focused on operations, testing and technology.

How do I cancel my existing conference registration?

Cancellations and substitutions for conference attendees are accepted with advance notice.  If you need to cancel, you must send written notification to Impact Associates by fax at 865.379.7094, or by e-mail at service@theforum2009.com.

Cancellation fees for conference attendees:

  • Full refund, less $50 handling fee, with written notice received by July 10, 2009, at 5 p.m. ET.
  • 50% refund if written notice is received between July 10 and August 7, 2009, at 5 p.m. ET.
  • No refund will be granted after 5 p.m. on August 7, 2009, or later.
  • Substitutions are allowed if made prior to August 7, 2009.

Cancellation fees for exhibitors:

  • Exhibitors will receive a 50% refund if written notice is received by 5 p.m. ET on July 31, 2009. 
  • NO REFUND will be made after 5 p.m. ET on July 31, 2009.

What is the dress code?

Business casual.  Military personnel are NOT required to wear uniforms, but if he/she chooses to do so, please wear Class B uniforms.  Some attendees wear business attire on the first day for the General Session and the Opening Night Reception.

It is approximately 10 miles from the hotel.

Will I need a rental car?

You will not need a rental car if you prefer to utilize the well-appointed resort for the week.  There is a shuttle service from the airport, as well as bus and taxi service.  If you prefer to dine and shop away from the resort, a rental car is recommended.

Is there a complimentary shuttle service from the airport to my hotel?

No.  There is affordable transportation via taxi or shuttle service.

How much does the shuttle cost?

Mears Transportation operates a shuttle service that costs about $17 each way.  The shuttle runs every 10-15 minutes, and shuttle reservations can be made online at https://secure.mearstransportation.com/Default.asp.  Walk-up service at the airport can also be utilized.  Reservations are recommended to expedite your trip, though.
